We are currently seeking a highly qualified Business Unit Leader (Production Supervisor) to join us at our Manufacturing Center in Richmond, VA. You will lead teams in understanding and translating functional or business strategies into tactical implementation plans.
What you will be doing:
- As a Shift BUL, manage up to 60 direct reports and coordinate with contracted services within the business unit to meet production, compliance, team and project objectives or goals; effectively coach and develop direct reports by implementing training, performance monitoring, recognition, and disciplinary action.
- Regularly engage with the Local 203-T BCT Union to manage contract disputes/grievances and to perform coaching.
- As a Line Lead, develop strategic plans to implement and maintain IWS infrastructure.
- Maintain the Daily Direction Setting (DDS) infrastructure and hold 24-hour accountability for performance of the business unit.
- Lead the execution of Autonomous Maintenance on assigned Line or Shift to support continuous improvement in order to deliver market needs.
- Develop and track corrective action plans to achieve OEE glidepath and stop reduction targets.
- Assist peers in management of the 24-hr manufacturing operation. Provide back-up/continuity for other Business Unit Leaders when required (vacation, absences, travel, etc.). Be prepared for significant short-notice overtime to include 12-houring and weekend work.
- Evaluate safety, quality, compliance, and production data to resolve ongoing departmental issues, needs, or system-wide gaps with the business unit and to improve future performance measures.
- Support Integrated Work Systems through membership on Pillar Teams, ownership of assigned Daily Management System (DMS), and participation in problem solving initiatives.
What we want you to have:
- Bachelors/Associate’s degree OR three (3) year state approved apprenticeship and at least three (3) years relevant leadership experience is required.
- In lieu of the education requirement, a candidate can qualify with four (4) years’ experience in a manufacturing or relevant leadership role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated technical aptitude and well-developed understanding of factory operations. - Demonstrated manufacturing process expertise and problem solving skills to identify, develop, and lead implementation of manufacturing wide projects or initiatives.
- Experience with managing hourly employees and a unionized workforce. Familiarity of the collective bargaining agreement preferred.
- Familiarity with FDA regulations, preferably with a minimum of 3 years in an FDA regulated facility.
- Good working knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office, TrakSYS, WFM, SDM, JDA, and SAP.
- Integrated Work Systems (IWS) experience preferred, Line Structure Team experience and Autonomous Maintenance qualification a plus.
- Ability to perform duties that would be reasonably expected in a manufacturing environment including (but not limited to) bending, standing, lifting, twisting, and kneeling. May be exposed to one of the following elements: extremes of temperature, fumes, odors, dust, and loud noise. Ability to work in excess of normally scheduled work week and on different shifts are an essential function of this position.

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $91,500.00 - $128,850.00.
