We are currently seeking a highly qualified Control Room Business Unit Leader to join our Expanded Tobacco department in Richmond, VA. You will maintain efficient operation of the Cold End Process Stage of the Expanded Tobacco (ET) Process.
What we want you to have:
- Perform weekly cold end startups and shutdowns efficiently. Monitor and control Expanded Tobacco Impregnation Process Stage equipment.
- Tracking process downtime in ET Cold End Process Stage with accurate root causes and corrective actions.
- Ensure the safe operation of high-pressure carbon dioxide systems to minimize the potential risks to personnel and company assets.
- Performing operational tasks in Manufacturing System Framework (MSF) and perform verification of cold end process systems and equipment to meet batch acceptance requirements.
- Monitor carbon dioxide inventory levels and coordinate shipments and receipts with Procurement using the SAP system.
- Understand carbon dioxide depressurization and re-pressurization procedures and perform them.
- Enter work order notifications and coordinate Maintenance and Engineering activities in the cold end process stage.
- Providing direction and allocating resources within the shift, to include both shift Production and Maintenance resources.
- Communicating status of key measures to assure your employees know where they are in meeting productivity and quality goals; perform reconciliation activities at end of shift.
- Building individual and organizational capability within your shift as you address the needs of the business and your people.
- Provide concise, technically proficient facts and interpretations of process upsets to Maintenance and Engineering for use in troubleshooting and process improvement activities.
- Understand IWS.
- Maintain open and honest communication with department management, Business Unit Leaders and operators of upstream and downstream process stages to ensure efficient operation of ET processes.
- Train and mentor other Business Unit Leaders (BUL's) and operators in daily Cold End operations and responsibilities to provide departmental flexibility and develop technical expertise of BUL's.
- Accountable for proper follow-up on equipment issues, and for proper communication to higher levels when necessary.
What you will be doing:
- Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial engineering with 0-2 years’ experience preferred. In lieu of degree, trade school or 4-6 years of Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial experience required.
- Possess strong mechanical knowledge, understand drawings and sophisticated equipment documentation.
- Knowledge of tobacco processing, sanitary machine design and food related good manufacturing practices is desirable.
- Understanding and appreciation of industrial safety hazards and safe job procedures.
- Knowledge of simple electronics, mechanical theory, and carbon dioxide equipment.
- Strong oral and written communication, general math skills and problem-solving skills are required.
- Ability to use computers and applicable software (Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP, Downtime System) required.
- End user skills to manipulate a process using a Human Machine Interface.
- Familiarity with principles / concepts of Quality Systems / IWS within manufacturing are preferred.
- Must understand the manufacturing process and possess highly developed troubleshooting ability.
- Willingness and ability to respond quickly to process upsets or equipment failure to ensure safety of self and others, and to maintain efficient operation of ET process.
- Willing to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shifts and weekends.
The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $88,800.00 - $128,850.00.
