Philip Morris USA is seeking a highly qualified Director of Manufacturing Facilities & Utilities to lead and develop salaried and hourly teams responsible for maintaining and operating critical utility and building systems across the Manufacturing Center Campus, including electrical, HVAC, compressed air, steam, vacuum, and chilled water.

 

In this role, you will set direction, ensure operational excellence, and uphold compliance with fire, electrical, refrigerant, and pressure vessel codes while overseeing approximately 45 facility maintenance contracts. Beyond day‑to‑day operations, you will provide maintenance and engineering leadership support to the John Middleton facilities, serve as the Sustainability Accountable for the Smokeable businesses, and oversee the Manufacturing Center Emergency Director and Site Emergency Management Team—playing a key role in site resilience, safety, and long‑term infrastructure strategy.

 

What you will be doing:

 

  • Direct maintenance activities on utility systems to provide reliable and continuous electricity, compressed air, HVAC, process vacuum, steam, and chilled water for operations, in addition to a sound building infrastructure.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures to improve operations and reduce costs.
  • Accountable for eight budgets totaling over $50 million annually.
  • Lead the development of the Utilities/Facilities priorities for input into facility 3- and 5-year capital expenditure plans.
  • Directs the salaried and hourly workforce in accordance with the organization's policies, mission, and values. This includes interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving issues.
  • Work in partnership with the Natural Work Team Leaders and Maintenance Unit Leaders to develop engaged teams that are results driven.
  • Coordinate activities with municipalities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes associated with utility systems.
  • Lead the Sustainability program for the Smokeable businesses.
  • Participate in contract negotiations with the IAM. Work with IAM leadership to promote effective labor relations and workforce utilization. Works with IAM representatives to resolve grievances at the first step grievance process.
  • Review production, quality, and maintenance reports to plan and modify maintenance activities.

 

What we want you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience required. 
  • Knowledge of utilities systems to include steam generation, chillers, compressed air, vacuum, and building systems; manufacturing processes, manufacturing equipment, maintenance theory and processes required.
  • Experience in developing, entering, and managing fixed budgets is required.
  • Experience in administering BCT and IAM collective bargaining agreements is desired.
  • Must have strong data, software, and analytical skills. 
  • Proficiency in use of SAP, Workbrain, Hyperion, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and factory labor models.
  • Knowledge of multiple PM USA manufacturing processes, knowledge of key maintenance and reliability practices and concepts is required.
  • Knowledge of fire and electrical codes is desired.
  • Project management skills are preferred.

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $139,100.00 - $243,500.00.
