We are currently seeking a Manager, Law to join our Law Department in Richmond, VA, or we are open to remote work arrangements.

 

In this role, you will assist the Government Affairs and Corporate Citizenship teams by  researching  public policy and related issues, analyzing, and summarizing potential legislation, preparing, and reviewing business documents, drafting, and evaluating amendments to potential legislation, and offering guidance to outside counsel and vendors.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage and coordinate review of state legislation to advance the Company's legislative priorities; ensure consistency of position across issues and across local and state jurisdictions
  • Analyze and interpret proposed legislation, including understanding the intended consequence and business impact of proposed legislation and potential risks of proposed legislation
  • Draft amendments to proposed legislation, as well as other business-related documents, to be used with state and local legislators, third-party groups, and other key partners to support the company's advocacy efforts.
  • Review and develop legislative advocacy and grassroots advocacy and review social media communications on legislative issues.
  • Liaise and directly work with state Managing Directors and Senior Directors in the review  and drafting of state legislation to advance Company legislative priorities.
  • Develop sophisticated understanding of product taxation, licensing, legal age of purchase  laws and enforcement of illicit products from a legislative perspective, develop and maintain necessary tracking infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with various operating companies and their law support on the impact of proposed state and local legislation.
  • Provide general programmatic support and review of Corporate Responsibility reporting and Youth Access Prevention/We Card program materials.
  • Assist Corporate Citizenship  Department with communication and document review, both internal and external facing.

We want you to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 8 + years of relevant work experience, 3+ years’ experience in legal, public policy, or government affairs. Law firm experience a plus
  • Knowledge of legal, legislative, and regulatory processes.
  • Well-developed research and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and management of multiple priorities.

 

 

 

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $116,200.00 - $168,400.00.
