We are currently seeking a highly qualified Technical Specialist to join our Mechanical Technical Support and Training Department at our manufacturing center in Richmond, VA.

 

In this role, you will provide technical maintenance support and training to manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational excellence.

What you will be doing:

  • Utilize specialized knowledge of machinery and processes to enhance the performance of mechanical maintenance personnel through formal and informal training, maintenance alerts, and the development of technical documentation.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot machinery issues, applying broad knowledge of equipment and processes to support factory electrical maintenance personnel.
  • Lead formal training sessions to support manufacturing maintenance teams.
  • Identify and recommend spare parts lists, technical alternatives, and design improvements for equipment.
  • Provide technical support for test plans, evaluations, and project development, including schedules, estimates, and resource planning.
  • Collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to resolve machinery-related issues during technical meetings.
  • Analyze data and apply problem-solving techniques to improve methods, processes, products, systems, documentation, and equipment.
  • Support Integrated Work Systems (IWS) and other problem-solving initiatives.

We want you to have:

  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering technology or equivalent work experience in a technical field (preferred).
  • Familiarity with cigarette packing equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working with cigarette manufacturing equipment, including three to five years troubleshooting packing machines.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as spreadsheets, databases, word processors, and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Experience with common measurement and diagnostic equipment.
  • Physical ability to bend, crawl, and climb to inspect equipment as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under demanding time constraints.
