We’re looking for a visionary Senior Manager, Enterprise Architect to spearhead the design, integration, and evolution of next-gen ERP solutions that support business operations—from Record to Report and Order to Cash, to Procure to Pay, Hire to Retire, Master Data Management, and Operational Reporting.

 

This role can be based in Richmond VA, or we are open to remote work arrangements. Must be willing to travel as needed, approximately 25-30%

 

As the Enterprise Architect, you’ll define and uphold technology standards, governance frameworks, and best practices across ERP and adjacent platforms. You’ll lead modernization efforts, optimize business capabilities, and architect solutions that support critical ERP migration, innovation product launches, mergers and acquisitions, international expansion, and regulatory compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Technical or Platform Architecture requirements:

  • Deep SAP technical knowledge: Expertise in SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, the SAP HANA database, and the surrounding SAP ecosystem and tools. Good understanding of middleware and APIs such as SAP Integration Suite (CPI), SAP Process Orchestration (PO), and SAP Cloud Platform (BTP).
  • S/4HANA migration expertise: Hands-on experience with migration strategies, including greenfield (new implementation), brownfield (system conversion), and hybrid approaches.
  • Experience with deploying SAP solutions on major cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure
  • A solid understanding of SAP's core programming language, Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP), is essential, along with skills in SQL and other relevant development tools.

Functional or Business Architecture requirements:

  • Deep business process knowledge: Expertise in one or more core SAP modules, such as Financials (FI/CO), Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), Supply Chain (PP/WM/TM), Asset Management, and Sourcing & Procurement.
  • S/4HANA functionality: In-depth knowledge of key S/4HANA functionalities, including the Universal Journal, real-time embedded analytics, and the Fiori user interface.
  • Business requirements analysis: Ability to conduct fit-gap analysis and lead workshops to understand and map business needs to SAP S/4HANA capabilities.
  • Configuration and design: Expertise in guiding, designing, and directing SAP S/4HANA solutions according to business requirements, following industry’s best practices.
  • Integration: Strong experience of cross-functional integration points between different SAP modules (e.g., FI/CO with MM/SD/PP).
  • SAP Activate methodology: Experience with the SAP Activate methodology for guided standardized implementation.

Professional experience:

  • Over 10 years of overall SAP implementation and design experience, with several years in an architecture-focused role.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and workstreams, ensuring solutions align with technical requirements and best practices.
  • Architect resilient ERP platforms for global CPG operations, accommodating, regional process variations and business needs.
  • Integrate SAP ERP (ECC or S/4 HANA) seamlessly across enterprise systems (CRM, TPM, SCM, HRM) and third-party partners (SaaS, Retailers, Public Warehouse, M&A, etc.). Enable add-ons to meet specific business needs while maintaining system integrity and flexibility.
  • Embed compliance with global and local regulations (FDA, DoJ, EU, GDPR) into platform design, ensuring traceability, auditability, and secure data management and access.
  • Establish architectural principles and governance frameworks for high availability, disaster recovery, and performance across distributed environments (e.g., private/public ERP SaaS).
  • Partner cross-functionally with Digital & Transformation teams, supply chain planning, logistics operations, manufacturing, sales, and marketing to align platform capabilities with strategic goals and deliverables.
  • Conduct business capability mapping and application rationalization. Model and improve business processes to enhance operational efficiency and identify automation opportunities. Deploy and manage enterprise architecture tools such as LeanIX and Lucid Chart.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, and IT. Serve as a trusted advisor and liaison between business units and technology teams. Partner with external Managed Service Providers to advance technology solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field; Master’s in MBA, or Computer Science preferred.
  • 10+ years in senior business analysis, Tech Lead, SAP ERP Consulting, or architecture roles, with deep Manufacturing or CPG industry expertise.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with SAP ERP (ECC, S/4 HANA) implementation and related tools (e.g., Ariba, SuccessFactors).
  • 7+ years of cross-functional ERP implementation experience.
  • 5+ years working with SAP S/4 HANA.
  • Proven experience in international architecture design and global rollout strategies.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration skills.
  • Expertise in regulatory environments across UTS and Non-UTS domains.
  • Advanced proficiency in Cloud/SaaS architecture, API design, RBAC security, and data privacy compliance.
  • Good understanding of SAP products and platform licensing, SAP Activate Methodology for RISE with S/4 HANA (Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, Run), add-ons (like Tax, Bank, Compensations, regulation software).
  • SAP ERP (ECC, S/4) certifications preferred.
  • Enterprise Architecture Training or Certification on TOGAFF or UAF or Open CA or Zachman Framework preferred.

 

 

 

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $128,700.00 - $196,200.00.
