We are currently looking for a Sr. Manager, Mechanical Engineering to join our Innovative Product Development group in Richmond, VA but are open to a remote work arrangement.
What you will be doing:
- Leading and developing a team of mechanical engineers through all phases of product development.
- Overseeing the design, prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems and components aligned with business objectives.
- Ensuring timely delivery of products that fully meet all defined requirements—including performance, quality, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
- Collaborating with multi-functional teams to drive product development from concept to launch.
- Driving continuous improvement in engineering design processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Supporting multi-functional business objectives.
- Establishing and running functional intellectual property strategies to protect strategic areas.
- Setting clear performance objectives and conducting regular evaluations that support team development and accountability.
We want you to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- 10+ years in mechanical engineering and product development with validated leadership in multi-functional teams.
- Strong technical depth combined with strategic business insight to assess risks, uncover opportunities, and get results.
- Expertise in designing and qualifying small, precision components (injection-molded plastics and cast/stamped metals).
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and familiarity with design for reliability, manufacturability, and sustainability.
- Experience in consumer electronics preferred; medical device background is a plus.
- Skilled at influencing without direct authority and fostering collaboration across diverse teams.
- Track record of delivering innovative solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Domestic & some international travel may be required <25%.

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $128,700.00 - $196,200.00.
