ALTRIA PRIVACY STATEMENT FOR U.S. APPLICANTS (“APPLICANT PRIVACY STATEMENT”)

Altria Group, Inc. and its affiliates respect your concerns about privacy. This Applicant Privacy Statement (i) describes the types of personal information collected, used, and safeguarded by, and on behalf of, Altria Group, Inc.’s affiliates (“Altria” “we,” “us,” “our”) from those who apply for career opportunities with Altria (“Applicants”) and (ii) applies to any of our websites, platforms, or applications (individually, and collectively, “Site” or “Sites”) that directly link to this Applicant Privacy Statement. We may also collect personal information directly from you, from third parties you authorize, such as third-party job search platforms, recruitment or headhunting agencies, and background check agencies. By submitting your information to these third parties, their privacy policy and practices shall apply. This Applicant Privacy Statement does not apply to personal information collected about Altria’s employees, consumers, or commercial contacts.
YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE IT
When we refer to “Personal Information” (referred to as “personal data” under some laws) in this Applicant Privacy Statement, we mean any information that identifies you or can be used to identify you. Listed below are the ways we collect personal information about you when you interact with our Sites, the types of information we collect and how we use it.

We collect personal information from and about you in connection with career opportunities with us. We collect your personal information directly from you, and where applicable, from third parties as described below:

Information We Collect from Your Device
When you visit one of our Sites, we, and certain third parties collect information from your device such as the Internet Protocol (IP) address and type of the device you're using, web browser characteristics, language preferences, referring/exit pages, clickstream data, and the dates and times of visits to the website through the use of automated data collection tools, such as:
- Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on the device that you are using when you visit a website. Cookies may be used to help a website recognize your device on future visits and enhance or improve your online experience. Cookies may also be used to remember your preferences or personalize content.
- Web Beacons/Pixels
Web beacons (also known as pixel tags) are a type of technology placed on a website or within the body of an email to track certain activity, such as whether a website page has been viewed or when an email is opened.
We use this information from these automated data collection tools and similar technologies to:
- perform analytics (e.g., usage, evaluate, and improve the performance of the Sites);
- identify career opportunities available in your area;
- facilitate your access to our Sites (e.g., recognize your computer and maintain your preferences);
- enhance and personalize your online experience;
- protect against and identify fraud and other criminal activity
In some instances, there may be Altria websites that include specific notices about cookies, web beacons, pixels and similar technologies that apply to that website.
HOW WE DISCLOSE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU
All of your Personal Information may be disclosed to the following categories of third parties:

- Third parties that perform services on our behalf and consistent with this Applicant Privacy Statement, including running our websites, sending communications for us, performing age and identity verification. We do not permit these third parties to use or disclose your information for any purpose other than the work they are doing on our behalf or as required by law;
We may disclose your information to other third parties including law enforcement authorities or other government officials:
- if we are required to do so by law or legal process;
- if we believe there has been a violation of our website policies;
- when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent injury, harm, or financial loss; or
- in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity.
In the event of a liquidation, reorganization, merger, consolidation, change of control, asset or stock acquisition/disposition, or other corporate combination, we may transfer information about you. Should such an event occur, we will use reasonable efforts to ensure the transferee uses your information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Statement.
HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION
We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards on our Sites to protect against unauthorized disclosure, use, alteration or destruction of the information you provide or view on the Site. We cannot guarantee that your information will be free from unauthorized access by third parties.
DATA RETENTION
Except as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law or regulation, we will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, as required to satisfy any legal, accounting, or reporting obligations, or as necessary to resolve disputes according to Altria’s Enterprise Retention Schedule. To determine the appropriate retention period for Altria’s Enterprise Retention Schedule, we consider our statutory obligations, the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal information, the purposes for which we process your personal information, and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means.
LINKS TO THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES
From time to time, we may provide links to third-party websites, including social networks. These websites operate independently from us and may have their own privacy notices, which we strongly suggest you review if you visit any linked websites. We are not responsible for the content of these sites, any products or services that may be offered through these sites, or any other use of these sites.
UPDATES TO OUR APPLICANT PRIVACY STATEMENT
This Applicant Privacy Statement may be updated at any time and without prior notice to you to reflect changes in response to changing legal, technical, or business developments. When we update this Applicant Privacy Statement, we will post the updated version and change the Last Updated Date above. If there are significant changes to this Notice that we believe affect your privacy rights, we will post a prominent notice on this Site and/or provide other notice as required to by law. Use of our Sites following such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Applicant Privacy Statement in effect.

CALIFORNIA PRIVACY NOTICE FOR APPLICANTS (“CA PRIVACY NOTICE”)

If you are a California resident, this CA Privacy Notice is provided under California law and supplements the Applicant Privacy Statement for California residents. This CA Privacy Notice describes the types of personal information we collect about California residents who apply for jobs with Altria (“Applicants”). Certain terms used in this Notice have the meaning given to them in California Civil Code § 1798.100 et seq.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION
Altria may collect categories of personal information about Applicants for the purpose of processing job applications and carrying out and supporting Applicant screening and evaluation, hiring, and human resource functions and activities. The description of these categories of personal information and their specific purposes of use are provided under the “Your Personal Information We Collect and How We Use It”, of the Applicant Privacy Statement.
Certain data elements we collect are deemed “sensitive” under California law. Those are, including but not limited to, race, ethnicity, and government identification numbers (e.g., Social Security and driver’s license numbers). We collect and use these data elements consistent with the permitted business purposes in California Civil Code § 1798.100 et seq. and implementing regulations.
SOURCES
We collect the majority of the personal information that we use directly from you. In limited circumstances, we may obtain the information from other parties, such as our affiliates, third party platforms, business partners, former employers and others that assist us with employment management activities.
FURTHER DETAIL ABOUT OUR USES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
As indicated in the table above, Altria may use personal information regarding Applicants in up to three different ways, depending on the category of personal information involved. We have provided further detail regarding each of these three uses below:
- Managing Applicants: managing potential Applicants, including scheduling and conducting phone-screening and interviews; verifying your identity; evaluation of qualifications for positions; performing background checks, driving records and drug screens; determining suitability for employment; determining physical and/or mental fitness for work; understand your experience with us and how we can improve our applicant process.
- Satisfying legal and compliance obligations: complying with legal requirements, such as tax, record-keeping and reporting obligations; complying with requests from government or other public authorities; responding to legal process such as subpoenas and court orders; pursuing legal rights and remedies; defending litigation and managing complaints or claims; conducting investigations; and complying with internal policies and procedures.
- Processing reimbursements: reimbursement to candidates for applicable travel expenses relative to interviewing.
DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
We will only disclose your personal information to third parties where required by law or to our employees, contractors, designated agents, or third-party service providers who require such information to assist us with our recruiting activities. We may also disclose your personal information for the following additional purposes where permitted or required by applicable law: to comply with legal obligations or valid legal processes such as search warrants, subpoenas, or court orders; to protect the rights and property of Altria; during emergency situations or where necessary to protect the safety of persons; in the event of a business transfer or change in ownership.
SALES AND TARGETED ADVERTISING
We do not sell your personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising (a concept known as “sharing” under California law).
INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS
California law provides you with certain rights regarding your personal information. You have the right to ask us to access, correct, or delete your information, subject to certain exceptions. We will not discriminate against you based on your exercise of those rights.
You can submit a request by contacting HR Operations by email at HRSC@altria.com or by phone at 1-866-765-7678. Subject to some exceptions, we will honor verified requests. To verify a request, we may ask you to provide us information that we can match with other information we have about you. The information we request depends on whether you are an active employee, retiree, terminated employee, or contractor. You can also have an authorized agent submit a request on your behalf, but we will require proof of authorization from the agent and you must verify your identity with us and confirm you gave the agent permission to submit the request.
