Quality Inspector Intern

 

Overview:
This internship program is designed for participants from The VCU Rehabilitation Research and Training Center and is designed for individuals with disabilities. Altria is excited to offer this 15-week internship program, running from October 5th, 2026, through January 15, 2027. This internship program is part of Altria’s Neurodiversity Supported Employment Program. Upon successful completion of the internship, there may be an opportunity for part-time conversion.

 

Job Description:
Altria is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Inspector Intern to join our team at the Manufacturing Center. In this role, you will support Factory Conformance by completing in-process inspections of tobacco products and packaging on the production floor. Throughout the internship, you will receive on-the-job training, access to a diverse group of mentors, and professional development opportunities.

 

The intern will be responsible for:

  • Perform in-process inspections of tobacco products on the production floor
  • Inspect packaging to ensure it meets quality standards
  • Learn product and packaging specifications and apply them during inspections
  • Identify defects or non-conforming product and report concerns to operators and team members
  • Record inspection results accurately using forms
  • Enter inspection data into Excel
  • Follow all safety and quality procedures while working in a manufacturing environment
  • Communicate with operators and team members about inspection results

 

Plain Language: A Quality Inspector Intern will:

  • Check tobacco products to make sure they look right and meet quality rules
  • Learn what a “perfect pack” looks like and use that during inspections
  • Check cigarettes and packaging (like packs and cartons) to make sure it is correct
  • Look for problems like damage, defects, or mistakes
  • Tell a team member if something does not look right
  • Write down what you find during inspections
  • Enter information into a computer system
  • Work safely on the production floor

Pay Rate: $15.90 an hour, 20 hours a week

 

Schedule: Between 9am-4pm, Monday-Friday. The exact schedule will be confirmed during the interview and will remain consistent each week.
